Gina Mead

Gina Mead was born in Italy overlooking the ancient city of Rome. Her parents imbued a love of antiquities that has influenced her work as a jeweler, goldsmith and artist.

Gina, in the tradition of Ancient goldsmith techniques, creates jewelry pieces expertly crafted in high karat gold. Her love stems from the lure of gold, the lusciousness of gemstones and the many wanderings amongst the artworks in museums and galleries.

Her paintings are playful and thoughtful with expressive marks, color and composition. Gina gathers her inspiration from the Abstract Expressionists of the 1940’s and 1950’s which brought a shift to the American painting scene in New York.

“I have many interests regarding Fine Art. Being a Goldsmith allows me to express the beauty and lusciousness of Antiquity through the use of high karat gold and precious gemstones. My love of the Fine Arts lead to my paintings in an exploration that build upon experiences and visual abstract expressions.”
